For a long time a candle was something you bought for its scent and kept in a jar. That is changing. Interior and candle-making trend reports for 2026 keep returning to the same idea: the candle as a small sculpture, chosen for its shape and left on display whether or not it is ever lit.
We have been making candles this way from the start, so here is our view of what a sculptural candle is, why the style is having its moment, and how to live with one.
A sculptural candle is a free-standing candle whose form is the point. Instead of a plain pillar or a jar, it is cast in a detailed mould as a figure, an animal, a plant or an abstract shape. It works as a decorative object first and a candle second: you can light it, but it earns its place on a shelf long before you do.

Several things that designers and makers are talking about this year point in the same direction:
It is up to you, and both answers are right. Many people never light theirs. If you do, remember that a sculpted candle changes shape as it burns and wax may run, so stand it on a heat-resistant plate, keep it out of draughts and never leave it unattended. Watching a figure slowly soften is part of the experience.
Because the shape does the talking, a sculptural candle is an easy present to personalise: a cat for a cat person, a chess piece for a player, a figure for someone who loves art. We wrote more about that in why candles make the perfect gift.
Every shape in our collection is our own design, sculpted, moulded and poured by hand in small batches from 100% soy wax, with no added fragrance. There are more than 100 to choose from in our online shop, and even more in our shop at Krišjāņa Barona iela 28 in Riga.
